Meet the Officers

Beverly Ryken | 1st Vice-Chair

Beverly Ryken is a Colorado native. Born and raised in Denver, she graduated from Manual High School and soon thereafter entered the military, retiring from the United States Air Force in 1993. After her time in the military Beverly entered the world of government; working for Denver Auditor Don Mares and Denver City Council members Doug Linkhart and Rick Garcia.

Beverly has held several positions within the Colorado Democratic Party; she has served as Vice-Chair of the Denver County Democratic Party, Captain of House District 4B, Vice-Chair for the 1st Congressional District, Vice-Chair for Senate District 34, member of the Colorado Democratic Party’s State Executive and Central Committees, and is also part of the Colorado Democratic Latino Innovative. Additionally, Beverly is an active participant in Democratic GOTV efforts around election time. During the 2008 Democratic Nation Convention Beverly assisted the Chair of the DNC Hispanic Caucus in organizing their delegate meetings and seminars.

Beverly currently resides in the Sloan's Lake area with her husband Roger.

Vivian Stovall | 2nd Vice-Chair

Vivian Stovall was born in Lake Providence, Louisiana. Vivian’s parents moved to Washington, D.C. where she graduated from Eastern High School, returned to Louisiana to attend Grambling College and received her degree in Anthropology/Sociology from then Bowie State College in Bowie, Maryland. She moved to Denver, Colorado in the summer of 1972 with her two children. After moving to Colorado, Vivian worked for years on grant programs that assisted the indigent with receiving direct services from government, private and non-profit groups to help with improving their quality of life. In 1974, she became involved with the Denver County Democratic Party as a Precinct Committee person, an election judge, and member of the County’s Executive and Central Committees. Later she worked at Denver General Hospital where she retired on disability in 2002.

Among her other many activities, Vivian is the President of the Colorado Alliance for Retired Americans, which represents over 30,000 seniors and retirees. She is a volunteer lobbyist and advocates on issues and legislation that impact education, health care, seniors, working families, people with disabilities, civil and human rights. She is an appointee of the Governor to the Colorado Commission on Aging representing Democrats in Congressional District 1 and served on the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Transportation Task Force.

Carolyn Boller | Secretary

Carolyn Boller was raised in Iowa and moved to Colorado in 1967 to work for the original Frontier Airlines as a reservation agent. While employed at Frontier, Carolyn took every opportunity to see the country and the world available to her. The airline work also provided her the opportunity to get involved in the Labor movement, allowing her to serve as a union representative for 18 of her 19 years at Frontier. She is still in charge of organizing the Frontier family picnics.

Carolyn got her start in politics and government working with the Pat Schroeder campaign as a precinct committee person in 1972. She continued has continued that path since, working for the Wirth for Senate campaign, the Congressional office of Congressman David Skaggs, and the Congressional and Senate offices of Senator Mark Udall. She took a break from the work of Congressional staff, spending two and half years as Executive Director at the Colorado Democratic Party. She is currently serving her 4th term as Secretary of the Party.

Carolyn is the proud mother of five dogs and three cats and fosters needy animals for the Aurora Animal Shelter. She serves on the Aurora Elections Commission, board of the Friends of the Front Range Wildlife Society, campaign treasurer for State Rep. Rhonda Fields; House District 42 Chair is a former County Party Chair in Arapahoe County.

Sherry Jackson | Treasurer

Sherry Jackson was appointed by Governor Ritter in 2009 to serve as the Minority Outreach Coordinator for the Governor’s Energy Office where she is currently serving under Governor John Hickenlooper. Before her appointment to this position, she was the Executive Director of the Colorado Democratic Party.

Sherry was recruited by then Colorado Attorney General Ken Salazar to assist him with his successful campaign for the U.S. Senate, where she served as his Administrative Director. For a short time she also work under then Mayor John Hickenlooper as the Special Projects Director at DIA. Former Denver Mayor Wellington E. Webb appointed Sherry in May 2002, as the Clerk and Recorder for the City and County of Denver and she served in that position until July 2003, by virtue of this office, she also was a member of the Board of County Commissioners and one of three members of the Denver Election Commission. She also served the Director of Boards and Commissions for Mayor Webb.

Serving Governor Roy Romer, Sherry held various positions, including Minority Community Relations Director and Deputy Director of Boards and Commissions where she advised and assisted the Governor with his appointments to over 350 statewide boards and commissions.

Ms. Jackson received her B.A. from Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas in 1981.
