McCain-Palin Campaign Out of Touch With Colorado Concerns
[DENVER, CO] - Sarah Palin's brief tour of Colorado, which ended last night with a visit to Grand Junction, reinforced that the McCain-Palin ticket offers four more years of the failed Bush policies and strategies. Despite three separate speeches in the state, the McCain campaign's vice presidential nominee did not provide any new insights into how John McCain would address the worst economic crisis facing Colorado families since the Great Depression.
Although the Dow Jones industrial average has dropped more than 1,500 points since Sarah Palin's October 4th visit to Colorado, the McCain campaign chose not to focus on the economy. Instead, they continued to use the same negative tactics that have brought misleading allegations directly into Coloradans' homes through auto dial calls -- a strategy rebuked by prominent Republicans, including two sitting Senators and General Colin Powell.
"It is very disappointing that, given the choice between offering solutions and launching negative attacks, the McCain campaign has once more chosen the low road. Hardworking Coloradans, who are struggling to pay their bills and make ends meet, expect real answers from their next president," said Pat Waak, Colorado Democratic Party Chair. "That is just what Barack Obama and Joe Biden are offering -- an economic plan to rescue the middle class, healthcare reform, and energy independence -- and that is why Coloradans are supporting Barack Obama and Joe Biden."
Palin failed to explain why McCain supports imposing the first tax on Americans' health care coverage in history, or why McCain supports large tax cuts for wealthy CEOs, and other corporate interests, but gives no tax breaks at all to 72 percent of hard working Coloradans with no tax cut.
In contrast, the Obama plan provides a tax cut to 95 percent of working families.
"When Coloradans compare the Obama-Biden plan for our state and our country with the stale politics as usual they heard today from John McCain's campaign, the choice will be extremely clear," said Waak. "Only Barack Obama and Joe Biden are giving Colorado families a clear explanation of how they will revive our nation's economy."
