Coloradans to McCain: Taking Our Water, Sending Middle Class Tax Dollars to Big Business Not Colorad |

Denver, CO - Former Senate Majority Leader U.S. Senator Tom Daschle
(D-SD) joined U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar for the final day of the Vote for
Change RV Tour of rural and small town Colorado. Over the past 30 days,
Sen. Salazar and other Democrats supporting Barack Obama's presidential
campaign in Colorado visited 35 towns covering almost 3,000 miles
across the Centennial State. Referring to Governor Palin's planned stop in an airplane hangar in
Colorado Springs on Monday, Sen. Salazar said, "John McCain and Sarah
Palin seem to believe you can just fly into Colorado and spend a couple
of hours in our state and claim you understand western values and rural
issues. After traveling across our state and speaking to Democratic,
Republican, and independent voters, I have one message for John McCain:
Coloradans don't want you taking our water to Arizona and we don't want
you taking our middle class tax dollars and giving it to CEOs and big
businesses." From his opposition to the Farm Bill to his failure to invest in
renewable energy to his support for opening up the Colorado River
Compact, John McCain has shown again and again that he won't be a
president who will stand on the side of Americans who live in rural
communities and communities across the West. In the Senate, Barack Obama has been on the side of rural Coloradans:
supporting the Farm Bill, opposing the McCain plan to open the Colorado
River Compact, and fighting to increase our country's use of renewable
energy. As president, Sen. Obama will continue these efforts, and will
work to improve the quality and reduce the cost of rural health care
and provide middle class families the tax relief they need to survive. The conclusion of the Vote for Change RV Tour comes the day after Sen.
Barack Obama, joined by his wife Michelle, visited the state for the
second time in one week. Michelle Obama will be back in Colorado on
November 3. In addition to the visits by Senator and Michelle Obama,
the Campaign for Change has opened 52 offices across the state and has
mobilized more than 10,000 volunteers who together will knock on more
than one million doors this weekend. "Governor Palin's quick stop at the Colorado Springs airport reinforces
that John McCain and his campaign view our state as little more than a
quick place to refuel," said Sen. Salazar.
