Denver, Colorado - State Party Chairwoman Pat Waak issued the following
statement recognizing the Obama Administration's early accomplishments
despite the best efforts from Congressional Republicans-the Party of
'No'-to stand in the way of much-needed reforms: "After only a few months in office President Obama has taken major
steps to jump-start our economy, save and create millions of jobs for
American workers, and pass a budget blueprint that invests in America's
future and makes critical improvements in health care, education, and
clean energy. And he's done it all with Republicans trying to stand in
his way. "When the President passed the jobs and economic recovery package,
creating and saving millions of jobs, Congressional Republicans said
no. When the President called on Congress to make it illegal for women
to get paid less than men for the same work, most Republicans said no.
When the President passed the budget making essential investments in
health care, education, and clean energy, every Republicans said no.
And, even when the President and Democrats in Congress passed
legislation to extend health care coverage to four million additional
children, most Republicans again said no. "Congressional Republicans have opposed the President's agenda since
day one and they have provided no solutions and no real alternatives.
At a time when millions of Americans are losing their homes,
unemployment continues to rise, and families are struggling just to put
food on the table, we can't afford to provide no solutions. It's time
for the Republicans to start saying yes to hard-working Coloradans by
working with President Obama and the majority of Congressional
Democrats like to get our country back on track."
