Speaker of the House Terrance Carroll and Long-Time Adams County Activist Ruth Campbell Honored PDF Print E-mail

DENVER – State House Speaker Terrance Carroll (D-Denver) and long-time Adams County party activist and mentor Ruth Campbell will be honored at our Colorado Democratic Party 77th Annual Jefferson- Jackson (JJ) Day dinner on March 6, 2010. “We are privileged to announce that Speaker Carroll will be honored with the Democrat of the year Award, said Pat Waak, Chair, Colorado Democratic Party. “Speaker Carroll is a leader in our community and has an excellent record of public service.” As the 54th Speaker of the Colorado House, Terrance Carroll is the first African American to serve in this leadership position. A respected leader in the Denver community, Carroll is an ordained minister and passionate advocate for social justice. Colorado Democratic Party Chair Pat Waak stated, “Ruth Campbell has spent her life working on behalf of our party not just in Adams County but across the metro area. It is volunteers like Ruth that are the life blood of our party. It is an honor to present her with the Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Known as the “First Lady of Aurora”, Ruth Campbell has been a long time party enthusiast and activist in Adams County. A retired Air Force nurse, Campbell has mentored numerous Democratic candidates throughout the years and has played a key role in local politics. The Colorado Jefferson-Jackson dinner will be held this Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Sheraton in downtown Denver. Tickets are still available on our website.
