Obama's Campaign for Change Announces Colorado Voter Registration Co-Chairs |
|
Today, July 23, Barack Obama's Campaign for Change announced five statewide Colorado Voter Registration Co-Chairs. As a result of the unprecedented excitement among voters in this campaign from across the political spectrum, state and local community leaders are partnering with the Campaign for Change to direct registration efforts in their area. The co-chairs are Apostle Ralph Beechum, President of the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance; Aaron Fischer, the head of the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) Students for Barack Obama; City Councilwoman Linda Poppaw (D-Fort Collins); Senator Paula Sandoval (D-Denver); and Senator Abel Tapia (D-Pueblo).
The co-chairs, who are from across the state, will form the leadership team for a robust voter registration effort to ensure that Coloradans take part in the political process and vote in record numbers during this historic election.
"I'm excited to be part of the efforts in Pueblo to bring people into our democratic process and this grassroots movement for change,” said Sen. Abel Tapia. "This is a tremendous chance to not only turn Colorado blue this fall, but to build a lasting Democratic infrastructure in our state."
"We have an opportunity now to register thousands of new voters who have not been involved in the process before. By reaching out in our communities, we will be able to build a united base of support for Senator Obama that includes people from across the political spectrum and all walks of life,” said Sen. Paula Sandoval.
“There are many issues facing Colorado's working families today, from the price of gas at the pump, to the cost of health care,” said Councilwoman Linda Poppaw. “People across Colorado need to get involved in the political process and I'm happy for the opportunity to reach out to citizens across Fort Collins, and help them to have a real voice in this election.”
Aaron Fischer continued, “When I started registering voters ahead of the Feb 5 caucus, I had no idea that bringing new voters into the process could be so rewarding. Students across the state, who are turning out in record numbers in this election, will have a real say in the direction of our country's future."
"We've seen for months that Coloradans are hungry for change. We need to pull together and register as many people within our communities and neighborhoods as possible. We have a great opportunity to build a better America, one that truly represents liberty and justice for all its citizens,” said Apostle Ralph Beechum. “May God bless America with a better tomorrow”
The Campaign for Change is building a large grassroots organization in Colorado. With thousands of new supporters, Obama's Campaign for Change continues to grow and reach out to Coloradans in every county across the state.
