Mitt Romney and Colorado Republicans Stand by Another Candidate Making Bizarre Statements Opposing Abortion in Cases of Rape

After Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock made the unbelievable comment that he opposes abortion even in cases of rape because a pregnancy from rape is “something God intended to happen,” Colorado State Representative Crisanta Duran offered the following reaction:

“Last night Richard Mourdock, the one Senate candidate in the country that Mitt Romney supports so strongly that he has endorsed him in a television spot, made one of the most vile and insulting statements to women that this country has ever seen from a major candidate for office. It is unconscionable that Mitt Romney still supports a candidate who said God intends for women to get pregnant from rape, but I guess we shouldn’t be surprised since they share the same views on taking away a woman’s right to choose, defunding Planned Parenthood, and opposing equal pay for equal work.  Mitt Romney has no hope of winning the support of Colorado women when he refuses to pull down his ad and withdraw his endorsement of Richard Mourdock immediately.”
