DENVER – The Colorado Democratic Party today celebrated women in elected office and active in the state party at the Colorado Democratic Women's Summit held in downtown Denver. The summit program featured a variety of panel discussions on Democratic leadership opportunities for young women, in the Colorado General Assembly, and in statewide positions.
Melissa Hart, CU Regent At-Large candidate stated, "Being one of two women in a statewide race, it is critical that we include more women in the political process in Colorado."
Women from across Colorado participated in the event and shared their stories including State Treasurer Cary Kennedy, Lt. Governor Barbara O'Brien and many others.
“We had a great afternoon, empowering women to take active leadership roles not just in our party but throughout the state,” said Colorado Democratic Party Chair Pat Waak.
