Victor’s Marx-isms Day 8: “I’m steadfast in my commitment to justice for Tina Peters.”

DENVER – Following the launch of “Con or Marx-ism?” last week, the Colorado Democratic Party is continuing to spotlight Republican nominee Victor Marx’s top Marx-isms to remind Colorado voters just how extreme and unfit he is to lead Colorado.

Play Con or Marx-ism? here.

Victor’s Marx-isms Day 8: “I’m steadfast in my commitment to justice for Tina Peters.”

Marx defended Tina Peters, the former county clerk-turned-felon, even as she helped spread lies about Colorado’s secure voting systems. Marx unequivocally telegraphed his support for her in a campaign video and said she should receive “justice”:

“For months, I've traveled this beautiful state telling audiences to standing ovations: I will free Tina Peters on day one. Why is it taking the current governor two years to come to the same conclusion? I'm steadfast in my commitment to justice for Tina Peters and the rule of law. Tina did receive a harsh sentence.”

Tina Peters, the former county clerk-turned-felon, helped another conspiracist impersonate a county employee to break into Mesa County’s voting systems, in an attempt to prove Trump’s election disinformation after 2020. Peters was found by a jury of her peers to have committed four felonies and three misdemeanors, and was sentenced to nearly 9 years in October 2024.

Marx bragged that he was the first gubernatorial candidate to pledge to commute her sentence and later said “she’s free and that makes me happy.”
