DENVER — The Colorado Democratic Party celebrates voters’ approval of Amendment 87, a plan to cut income taxes for an estimated 97% of Colorado taxpayers while asking the wealthiest households and largest corporations to contribute more. This policy will save more Coloradans money, by cutting taxes for everyone making less than $500,000 a year, which will help working people not just get by, but thrive.
This transformational measure dedicates additional revenue to public schools, health care and early childhood care and education. Colorado Democrats supported the amendment to give working families tax relief and strengthen services they depend on.
“Families should be able to keep more of what they earn and still count on a good public school and health care they can afford,” said Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib. “Today, voters backed a fairer way to pay for those things. We thank the parents, educators and volunteers who made this case in their communities and helped bring this victory home.”
