DENVER — The Colorado Democratic Party congratulates Jessica Killin on her election to represent Colorado’s 5th Congressional District.
Raised in Colorado Springs by public school educators, Killin served as an Army captain and paratrooper before building a career that included helping military families navigate financial challenges. She campaigned on improving veterans’ access to care, lowering health care costs and demanding responsible use of taxpayer dollars. Her victory sends a representative to Congress with deep ties to the community and firsthand knowledge of the demands of military service.
“Representative-elect Killin knows the responsibilities this community carries and what our country owes the people who serve,” said Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib. “She has led soldiers and worked to protect military families from financial hardship. She brought that experience home and gave voters a campaign focused on making their lives better. This is an extraordinary victory for Colorado Springs and El Paso County. We’re proud to congratulate her and everyone who helped make it happen.”
The Colorado Democratic Party’s ethos this campaign cycle is “when we compete everywhere, we can win anywhere.” The party was proud to partner with Representative-elect Killin and the El Paso County Democratic Party in building a robust coordinated campaign that knocked on tens of thousands of doors, sent mail, directed voter protection efforts and delivered paid digital advertising to CO5 voters.
The El Paso County Democratic Party is also part of the State Party’s Colorado County Comeback program, which invests in building and supporting Democratic infrastructure in red and rural counties, and legislative candidates were supported by CDP’s House Majority Project, Democratic Senate Campaign Fund, and the Challengers programs.
