Victor’s Marx-isms Day 12: “More girls and women would not be abused by men if they were content with who they are.”
DENVER – After launching the micro-site “Con or Marx-ism?” the Colorado Democratic Party is continuing to spotlight Republican nominee Victor Marx’s top Marx-isms – reminding voters just how unfit he is to lead Colorado due to his extreme views and reckless behavior.
Victor’s Marx-isms Day 12: “More girls and women would not be abused by men if they were content with who they are.”
In his many church sermons and video podcasts, Marx continually reiterated that there was a “biblical hierarchy” placing men above women. At one point, he pushed it further, preaching that women's insecurity causes them to be abused:
“Bring me a man, Lord. I mean, you know, you let all the pressure of the culture and this and that, you know, you're like, lord, help me, my eggs are drying up. Hurry, bring me a man. It's like, relax. Be content in your singleness. More girls and women would not be abused by men if they were content with who they are and where God has them. But the insecurity actually betrays them. And the enemy whispers, you gotta have. You gotta. Oh. So you settle.”
Marx’s comments drew outrage and were immediately rebuked by Colorado Democratic leaders and survivors at an event for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Despite widespread disgust aimed towards Marx after the report, he never apologized or admitted that his history of violence and “explosive anger” was disqualifying for Colorado’s top state office. In fact, he proactively confirmed the stories of violent altercations with his wife and toddler son in a radio interview, and in a later private campaign call bragged that “he’d do it again.”
Marx has yet to apologize for his words or actions, and every other Republican running statewide and in congressional races has remained silent.
