DENVER — Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib released the following statement on the passage of Proposition 132:
“The grief and fear fentanyl has brought to Colorado families is real. We opposed Proposition 132 because increasing incarceration without funding the costs or expanding access to recovery is the wrong response and targets people who need support while doing nothing to take on drug dealers.
“We’re disappointed in this result and grateful to the families, health professionals and advocates who spoke up. Colorado still needs treatment people can get when they ask for help, prevention that reaches young people and an effective response to trafficking. We will keep fighting for those investments and against allowing new prison costs to crowd out the services that help people survive.”
