DENVER — The Colorado Democratic Party welcomes the defeat of Amendment 84, which would have required mail voters to provide an additional identifying number with their ballot signature.
Democrats opposed the amendment because it would add another requirement that could prevent eligible voters from having their ballots counted and raise concerns about the privacy of their identifying information.
“Voting should be secure, and eligible voters should have a fair chance to participate,” said Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib. “Those goals belong together. We’re grateful to everyone who defended access to the ballot and explained why another hurdle would make voting harder for people who already follow the rules.”
