Entire Republican ticket faces historic losses from Marx’s gov run
DENVER – Today, Republican gubernatorial nominee Victor Marx’s fever dream of a campaign will end. His problems, and the cascade of problems he has exposed for the state GOP, will not.
Marx’s campaign got stranger and stranger as he doubled down on his impossible personal history. Many of Marx’s wildest claims about his life – his ministry rescues, near-death experiences, entanglements with ISIS and gangs abroad – fell apart under any scrutiny. Others, like the childhood homicide, remain apparently “unprovable,” despite heroic efforts from local and national reporters.
His yearlong run for governor was also publicly bookended by bizarre and shocking stories of violence. Marx teased his campaign launch at a memorial service for Charlie Kirk; rocketed to international laughingstock by claiming he murdered a man when he was 7, but declined to confirm if he had killed anyone as an adult; and rounded out his campaign’s final weeks by admitting he had angry, violent domestic incidents with his family over the years.
“When polls close at 7 p.m. tonight, one thing will remain: Victor Marx is among the strangest, most extreme and worst candidates for office in Colorado history, and he will forever be tainted by the cloud of fraud around him. Whatever the final count in the race for governor, his run has roped a solid cement block to the state GOP that they will not untie anytime soon.” – Colorado Democratic Party spokesperson Kailee Stiles
